The ability and desire to build a family is fundamental and the inability to have a child affects people physically, emotionally, and financially.

Our Wisconsin State Legislature has the power and opportunity to pass a State Budget that includes a provision to ensure infertility treatment and fertility preservation coverage for Wisconsinites. For the next few months, our elected leaders in the state will be debating and voting on the State Budget and we need your help to gain support among as many lawmakers as possible. This means YOUR lawmakers need to hear why infertility treatment coverage is important to YOU.

Subject: Help Remove Barriers That Keep Wisconsinites from Achieving Their Dreams of Becoming Parents

Message:

I am writing to bring your attention to the issue of insurance coverage for fertility services. Hundreds of us across the state are working to bring this issue and legislation before the legislature this session, and I urge you to support the provision in the State Budget that includes coverage of diagnosis and treatments for infertility in our state’s health care insurance policies. My guess is this issue has already touched your life. Perhaps through a personal experience, through a family member, or knowing of a friend’s challenges with creating a family. Or an individual who could not afford to preserve their fertility in the short window before starting cancer treatments. It is emotionally fraught, complicated, but a fixable problem that results in a lifetime of joy. I urge you to become part of this fix. I write to ask you to commit your support for the provision already included in the State Budget that will make families a priority and authorize equitable access to these therapies for our state’s residents. By doing so you will help Wisconsin join the 20 other states that already include fertility services in their state’s health insurance policy offerings.
